When a family enters hospice, the Medicare hospice benefit covers the clinical care — nursing visits, chaplaincy, social work, medications. What it doesn't cover is the long quiet hours in between, when someone needs to be there. Our companion caregivers work alongside the hospice team to provide the in-home presence that lets the family rest, the patient stay comfortable, and the household keep functioning.
What's included
- Continuous companionship during the day, evening, or overnight
- Light meal preparation and feeding assistance for the patient when appetite allows
- Bathing assistance, repositioning, and personal hygiene within non-medical scope
- Family respite — so spouses and adult children can sleep, eat, and step away when needed
- Calm presence during difficult moments — restlessness, anxiety, sundowning
- Coordination with the hospice nurse, aide, chaplain, and social worker
